The European Investment Bank wishes to enhance its contribution to EU Energy Policy objectives and has made the financing of Energy-related projects a new lending priority. In this context, the EIB is looking for Energy specialists for its Projects Directorate (PJ). They will assess technical feasibility, economic viability and environmental sustainability of Energy projects, notably of those which are considered relevant to mitigate Climate Change. They will also support the implementation of the different project assistance and project development services available, and contribute to the achievement of the EIB’s Energy objectives.

The Energy Group is organised in teams, one of which specialises in energy efficiency and renewable energy, and the second focuses on conventional energy production and distribution networks. Selected staff members from these two teams take care of Energy projects with innovative technical characteristics. To further enhance its internal expertise, the Bank is at present looking for candidates with an extensive knowledge of Energy technologies and their prospective development in various Energy sub-sectors. Flexibility is, however, encouraged and there will be opportunities to work across the full spectrum of Energy Sectors. Sub-sectors and related technologies to be covered concern: electricity generation based on conventional power stations incl. carbon capture, renewable energy projects incl. generation of biofuels, concentrated solar power, photovoltaics, geothermal, wind (onshore/offshore), ocean energy and hydropower

Od kandydatów oczekujemy:

• Within multidisciplinary teams, prepare techno-economic assessments of Energy projects including assessment of their innovativeness and their compliance with environmental and procurement policies.
• Track the evolution of the relevant sector, and produce policy and sector papers and briefs.
• Liaise with EU Institutions and international organisations on Energy Policy/Sector questions. Participate in conferences and other sectoral events.
• Select and manage external consultancy for specific technical assistance operations

Oferujemy:

• Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in a relevant technical field, preferably Energy Engineering with an extensive knowledge of the relevant technologies of the sectors and their prospective development. A multidisciplinary background would be an advantage.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in the Energy Sector. International experience would be an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of key technological aspects of at least two of the afore-mentioned sub-sectors/technologies including know-how of the most recent technical developments, as well as experience with environmental impact assessments and procurement procedures. Knowledge of energy markets and policies, and of applied quantitative techniques, such as cost benefit analysis
• Practical expertise in the management of project preparation
• Good knowledge of the EU Energy and climate change policies, and the EU legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good command of the other. Working knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage
