Software Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

As a leading IT service company in Europe and for our main customer Samsung Electronics, we are expecting to expand our business and look to strengthen our existing application maintenance and operations. The main role of this position is to develop and maintain java based applications across multiple platforms and solutions, including ETL. The successful candidate will need to have a solid grasp of backend frameworks and strong knowledge of security fundamentals as they relate to web-based applications, data transformation and exchange.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Involve in new application development projects or maintain existing applications
• Manage / deliver allocated tasks / projects to agreed costs, timescales and quality
• Ensure all work undertaken and system applications conform to Company standards and procedures and meet the agreed service levels
• Manage, plan and prioritize tasks to achieve agreed deadlines and meet user requirements
• Identify and implement improvements to systems and its applications to meet forecast business requirements
• Work in multi-disciplinary teams on major projects, contributing expertise and advise to ensure successful project completion
• Have willing to learn new skills and technologies

EDUCATION:

Degree in a business or computer related discipline or equivalent

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

- Essential

• Strong knowledge of core Java and familiarity with Java related technologies
• Excellent backend and server side knowledge and experience
• Linux and Windows server experience
• Practical experience of Spring and Spring Boot framework, related technology (Maven, Tomcat, etc.) and deployment (e.g. Jenkins, etc.)
• Advanced understanding of WAS(Apache Tomcat, Red Hat, JBoss, WebLogic, etc.)
• Knowledge of object orientated design and java design patterns
• Advanced SQL Skills with experience of large data volume (Oracle, MSSQL)
• File I/F experience with large volume of channels (FTP, Web service, etc.)
• Experience of JIRA, Git, Junit,
• Ability to liaise with internal and external customers at all levels
• Self-starter, able to work under own initiative
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills(English)
• Good documentation and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good team player

• Advanced C#, .NET framework skills
• Practical experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Certificates in Programming Languages (e.g. Oracle Certified Java Programmer, etc.)
• Advanced level front end skills (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSON)
• Experience in API Gateway/Web Service is desirable
• Mid-level

EXPERIENCE:

• 2 to 5 years of software development and system operation experiencepreferablywith in a large and challenging multi-national organization
• Must have experience of dealing with different interest groups and facing clients

HOURS OF WORK:

37.5 hour week. Some weekend and evening work may be required for emergencies and projects.
